Employment: DOIT : CES : Media Systems Engineering
Date
August 2022 -- Present
Role
Student Assistant
Location
Stony Brook University
As a Media Systems Engineering Assistant at the Division of Information Technology, I played a pivotal role in installing and maintaining audio-visual systems across 140+ university classrooms and learning spaces. My senior year project contributions included collaborating on the development of a $50,000, 165-inch video infographic wall system for lecture hall signage, encompassing software interface creation, wiring schematics, technical documentation, and installation oversight. Additionally, I worked extensively with Crestron hardware (QM, DM NVX) to debug, install, and maintain AV systems while ensuring seamless functionality through recurring cross-team collaborative meetings.
This role allowed me to break new ground for student workers by joining professionals in Crestron systems programming and influencing company culture through improved documentation standards and enhanced team collaboration. My efforts earned me the STAR IT Award during my senior year fall semester and the Student Employee Service Awards for Technology and Innovation in my senior year spring semester! Regular career/leadership/workplace enhancement workshops were held for employees of DOIT which focused on communication, collaboration, and enhancing/displaying our skills. These experiences strengthened my technical expertise in AV systems while fostering my ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment for the benefit of faculty and staff.
