Employment: North Atlantic Industries
Date
June 2023 -- December 2023
Location
Bohemia, New York
Role
Test Engineer Part Time
As an Electrical Engineering Intern at North Atlantic Industries (NAI), I worked on advanced embedded computing and power systems for mission-critical aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. My responsibilities included verifying and repairing over 20 NAI models, such as Analog Electronics, Single Board Computers (SBCs), and Function Modules, using schematics, layouts, and automated test scripts. I also executed testing and debugging on more than 30 unique IC controllers and power supply circuits, including PCIE, Serial, I2C, Buck/Boost converters, SPI, UART, and RS232 interfaces. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, I contributed to maintaining NAI’s high standards for quality and reliability in ruggedized systems.
In addition to technical tasks, I independently debugged and repaired complex multilayer systems with thousands of components while documenting internal procedures and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards for flight-critical systems like the 68PPC2. My experience at NAI provided valuable insights into the design and manufacturing of configurable embedded systems built on the COSA® architecture. This internship not only enhanced my technical expertise but also deepened my understanding of the rigorous demands in aerospace and defense industries. Following my initial summer term filled with collaboration, enriching cross team events, and intern networking, I was offered a return internship to lead a dedicated project investigating board failures, further solidifying my professional growth at NAI.
